Last in a series of six

BRYAN – Waxahachie shortstop Michaela Landers is the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 6A player of the year.

Landers, who is only a sophomore, hit a Dallas-area record 25 home runs, eclipsing by one the record set by Melissa’s Kennedy Bradley last year. The 25 homers are eighth most in national history, according to the National Federation of High School Association’s record book. Landers had a state-record 105 runs batted in, eclipsing 92 by Amarillo’s Sydney Greeson in 2018.

Landers batted .639 with 16 doubles and 11 triples.
