David Campbell has retired as a sports writer, last working with the Bryan-College Station Eagle. He has also been a sports writer with the Corsicana Daily Sun and the Waco Tribune-Herald.

During football season, he broadcasts Bryan Vikings play-by-play on 1150 AM and 93.7 FM KZNE — The Zone.

He has had a radio sportscast for the last 36 years, including the last 14 years on 99.1 KNES in Fairfield. He started his sportscast and was a play-by-play broadcaster on KYCX in Mexia, where he was sports director.

He has won Texas Associated Press awards for best commentary and for play-by-play.

Campbell is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame selection committee and was a voter on the Associated Press high school football poll for 35 years.
