Fifth in a series of six

BRYAN – Montgomery Lake Creek pitcher Sara Wiggins was the player of the year on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A all-state team.

Wiggins was 33-0 with a 1.70 earned run average in leading the Lady Lions to the Division II state title for the second straight year as Lake Creek has won state four of the last five years. Wiggins was the winning pitcher in both title games. The Wichita State signee also batted .529 with 18 doubles, nine home runs and 62 runs batted in.
