Lady Cougars shut out Mag West, 5-0

The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team defeated Magnolia West 5-0 Friday evening in Magnolia to improve to 2-1 in district and 7-3-2 overall.

At the 38:26 mark of the first half, Anna Kjervfe played a nice pass behind the Magnolia defense to Kelsey Slater who beat the goalie with a high shot to the back post.

Shortly after that, a nice combination play between Adi Palacios and Kalan Breedlove put Shaley Lewis through on goal. Lewis’ low shot put the Cougs up by two goals. Lewis struck again moments later when she beat the defender down the left side and beat the goalie to the near post.

Just before halftime, Lauren Hanik’s corner kick found Camila Del Rio who slid the ball just past the goalie for a 4-0 lead.

The lone goal of the second half occurred with five minutes left in the game.  Palacios scored from a direct kick from 30 yards out to end the scoring on the night.  Keira Herron recorded the shutout in goal for College Station.

The CS JV defeated Magnolia West 7-1 to improve to 3-0 in district play and 7-1-1 overall.  Cougar goals were scored by Reese Maxwell (3), Jillian Burns (2), Logan Auckland, and Ashyln Turner.  Cougar assists were by Ashlyn Turner (3), Logan Auckland, and Jillian Burns.
