The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team improved to 4-3-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over Leander Thursday afternoon in the Governor’s Cup in Georgetown.
The Cougars took the lead just before the half, when Simmy Ghosh, Tania Aquino, and Shaley Lewis combined to put Lewis behind Leander’s back line. Lewis beat the goalie with a low shot to the back post.
Midway through the second half, Lewis played a ball over the defense to Kelsey Slater who fired a high shot to the far post to put the Cougs up 2-0. Anna Kjerfve headed home the third Cougars goal off of a corner kick from Lewis.
The Cougars will play Rouse on Friday at 12:40 in game two of the tournament.
