SOCCER:

The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team won a hard fought match in a PK shootout against Porter High School Thursday night in the bi-district round of the UIL state playoffs.

The Cougars scored at the 32:21 mark of the first half when Taylor Deuel switched the field to Olivia Riechman who beat the goalie just inside the left post.

Just before halftime, the Cougs had an indirect just outside the 18 on the left side of the field. Carley Deuel crossed the ball into the box and Riechman headed it past the goalie for a 2-0 lead.

Porter got a goal back at the 33:29 mark of the second half to cut the Cougar lead to 2-1. With 8 minutes left in the game, Porter scored the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

After two 10 minute periods with no goals the teams faced off in a PK shootout. The Cougs won the shootout 4-3 to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Reese Garrett, Adriana Wagner, Callie Woods, and Lauren Puckett scored for the Cougs in the shootout. Rebekah Hailey made two huge saves in goal for the Cougs in the shootout.

College Station will meet Rouse in the second round of the playoffs.
