Second in a series of six

LONGVIEW — Shiner’s Jason Keller and Paeden Vincik took top honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State Softball Team, the organization announced on Monday.

Keller, who led Shiner to a 33-3 record, was named Coach of the Year. Shiner defeated Crawford (4-3) in the state semifinals and won the Class 2A championship with a 10-4 victory over Beckville.

Vincik, a catcher, went 5-for-8 at the state tournament with a home run and four RBI to earn tournament MVP honors. For the season, Vincik hit .471 with a .546 on base percentage, an .895 slugging percentage, eight home runs, two triples, 17 doubles and 52 RBI.

Voting was conducted by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members around the state.
