First in a series of six
LONGVIEW — Jonesboro’s Emily Turner and Amanda LeCroy took top honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class A All-State Softball Team on Sunday.
Turner, a junior catcher, was named Player of the Year, and LeCroy, who led Jonesboro to the Class A state championship, was named Coach of the Year.
Voting was conducted by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members around the state.
Turner hit .695 for the season with five home runs, 12 triples, 21 doubles, 55 RBI, 55 runs scored and 23 stolen bases. She struck out twice in 111 plate appearances.
LeCroy led Jonesboro to a 23-7 record. Her team defeated Slocum 10-0 in the state semifinals, and then knocked off Neches, 3-1, for the state championship.
