Canyon Lake’s Williams, Calallen’s Lynch share player of year honors

BRYAN – Canyon Lake shortstop Carter Williams and Calallen outfielder Chase Lynch shared player of the year honors on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A all-state baseball team.

Williams batted .459 with 15 doubles, 12 homers and 45 runs batted in. The Texas Tech signee scored 42 runs and was 6-0 as a pitcher with 123 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings.

Lynch batted .528 with 42 RBIs with 17 doubles, eight triples and 51 runs scored. The McMurry signee batted .481 in the postseason to lead the 35-2 Wildcats to the Division I state title. He also was 5-0 on the mound with a 1.47 earned run average.
