LONGVIEW – Melissa teammates Eloisa Maes and Caigan Crabtree shared Player of the Year honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A All-State Softball Team.

Melissa head coach Cassie Crabtree, who led the team to a 38-1 record and the Class 5A Division I state title, was named coach of the year.

Voting was conducted by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.

Maes finished with a 31-1 record in the pitcher’s circle. She had a 1.30 earned run average and 238 strikeouts while tossing 17 no-hitters and working 29 shutouts.

Caigan Crabtree hit .539 with a 1.931 OPS, 1.304 slugging percentage, 20 home runs, 16 doubles, 60 RBI and 60 runs scored.
