LONGVIEW — Hunter Quentel, who helped lead Humble Kingwood to the Class 6A Division II state championship, was named Player of the Year with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A All-State Softball Team.
The team was selected by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.
Quentel went 17-3 in the pitcher’s circle with a 1.01 earned run average and 177 strikeouts in 123.2 innings pitched. She also hit .458 with a .488 on base percentage, 1.075 slugging percentage, 16 home runs and 43 RBI.
Jordan Williams, who led Waco Midway to the Class 6A Division I state championship, was named Coach of the Year.
Midway defeated League City Clear Springs, 9-1, in the state title game to finish the season with a 32-3 record.
Midway defeated Waxahachie (11-1, 22-5), Rockwall (3-0), Conroe Oak Ridge (10-4, 5-2), Conroe (5-4, 1-0) and Lewisville Flower Mound (2-5, 6-0, 7-6) to reach the state title game.
