Fifth in a series of six

LONGVIEW — Corpus Christi Flour Bluff middle blocker Margaret Croft was the player of the year on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state volleyball team.

The 5-foot-11 Croft had 707 kills, 466 digs, 120 blocks and 91 aces in leading 38-12 CC Bluff to the Class 5A Division II state title in the program’s first state tournament appearance. The SMU signee had 28 kills, 20 digs and seven blocks in the Hornets’ five-set victory over McKinney North in the state championship match.
