Grapevine’s Hill named player of the year

BRYAN  – Grapevine pitcher Dasan Hill was the player of the year on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state baseball team.

Hill was 10-0 in the regular season with a 0.99 earned run average. He had 155 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings. He was 4-0 in the postseason in helping the Mustangs go 40-5 and win. The Dallas Baptist signee, was selected 69^th in the Major League Draft by Minnesota.

Grapevine’s Jimmy Webster shared coach of the honors with Fort Worth Wyatt’s Quinlan D. Germany. Webster, in his 31^st season, led Grapevine to a 40-5 record and its second state title. The other came in 2016. Germany helped the school end a 52-year-playoff drought.
