Third in a series of six

LONGVIEW — Coahoma teammates Hannah Wells and Mia Clemmer shared Player of the Year honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A All-State Softball Team on Tuesday.

Coahoma made it a clean sweep of top honors, with head coach Alexander Orosco earning Coach of the Year accolades.

Coahoma finished the season with a 32-0 record, defeating Whitesboro (10-9) in the state semifinals and winning the title with a 3-2 victory over Grandview.

Wells was 20-0 in the circle, including both wins at the state tournament. She had a 0.82 earned run average and struck out 157 in 93 innings while also hitting .701 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 57 RBI.

Clemmer, a catcher, hit .642 with 13 home runs, 14 doubles, two triples and 52 RBI.

The team was selected by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.
